چکیده

We present the results of a study of a large sample of A and Am stars with spectral types from LAMOST and light curves from WASP. We find that, unlike normal A stars, δ Sct pulsations in Am stars are mostly confined to the effective temperature range 6900 < Teff < 7600K. We find evidence that the incidence of pulsations in Am stars decreases with increasing metallicism (degree of chemical peculiarity). The maximum amplitude of the pulsations in Am stars does not appear to vary significantly with metallicism. The amplitude distributions of the principal pulsation frequencies for both A and Am stars appear very similar and agree with results obtained from Kepler photometry. We present evidence that suggests turbulent pressure is the main driving mechanism in pulsating Am stars, rather than the κ-mechanism, which is expected to be suppressed by gravitational settling in these stars.

LINEAR PULSATION CHARACTERISTICS OF MIRA VARIABLE STARS

The linear adiabatic pulsation-periods of Mira variable stars have been derived. Approximately 2701[1]models were calculated for M = 0.7 MΘ to 2 MΘ stars with radii from 180 RΘ to 340 RΘ and luminosities from 2800 LΘ to 10,000 LΘ. The chemical composition of all models is (X,Z) = (0.7,0.02). From the result of this study, linear relations on Luminosity-Period-Mass relationship and luminosity-pe...

Acute Kidney Injury Following Rhabdomyolysis due to Multiple Wasp Stings (Vespa affinis)

Background: Wasp stings are quite commonly observed in Bangladesh though they are under reported. However, rhabdomyolysis following multiple wasp stings is a rare entity. Case report: A middle aged physician was stung by a swarm of wasps at multiple sites of the body. He felt severe pain at the sites of the stings and was primarily treated with intravenous hydrocortisone and chlorpheniramine. W...

The First Hypervelocity Star from the Lamost Survey

We report the first hypervelocity star (HVS) discovered from the LAMOST spectroscopic survey. It is a B-type star with a heliocentric radial velocity about 620 km s, which projects to a Galactocentric radial velocity component of ∼477 km s. With a heliocentric distance of ∼13 kpc and an apparent magnitude of ∼13 mag, it is the nearest bright HVS currently known. With a mass of ∼9M⊙, it is one o...

Open clusters: their kinematics and metellicities

We review our work on Galactic open clusters in recent years, and introduce our proposed large program for the LOCS (LAMOST Open Cluster Survey). First, based on the most complete open clusters sample with metallicity, age and distance data as well as kinematic information, some preliminary statistical analysis regarding the spatial and metallicity distributions is presented. In particular, a r...

An Algorithm for Preferential Selection of Spectroscopic Targets in LEGUE

We describe a general target selection algorithm that is applicable to any survey in which the number of available candidates is much larger than the number of objects to be observed. This routine aims to achieve a balance between a smoothly-varying, well-understood selection function and the desire to preferentially select certain types of targets. Some target-selection examples are shown that...
